This swim is a 2-loop course from the South Bay swim beach. The course starts in the water by the beach/swim ramp, does a triangular course twice, finishing out of the water on the beach/swim ramp. This race includes both a wetsuit and non-wetsuit division. You’ll indicate which you want to participate in during the registration process.
Parking
There is limited parking available at Horsetooth Reservoir. Participants will have following options
- The best option is FREE parking at the Holiday Twin Drive In, 2206 S Overland Trail. Parking opens at 5:00 am and buses to the race start at 5:30 am.The last bus to the start leaves at 6:00 am, do not be late. Buses will return swimmers to the Holiday Twin parking starting at 8:00 am and run approximately every 30 minutes until 10 am. There will be shuttle cars from 10am until 1pm if you miss the last bus.
- If you do not want to park at the Holiday Twin Drive in and take the bus to the start, you may pay for a parking pass and park at the South Bay, Horsetooth Reservoir. The cost for this is $35 and is due at registration. You will need to get a parking pass from a Horsetooth Swim volunteer at the park entrance when you arrive on race morning. Please have your registration with proof of parking payment available when you arrive. Keep in mind that parking is limited. If you choose this parking option, we encourage carpooling with other swimmers to keep race-related traffic to a minimum.
- You do not need to park. This can be if you are carpooling with someone that has paid for parking or if you have a ride that drops you off and does not need to park. If you have a ride, you can be dropped off at South Bay picnic shelter no later than 6:30 am. Please have your driver alert the volunteers at the park entrance that they are just dropping you off and you do not need a parking pass.
Eligibility
The 2.4 mile event is open to swimmers at least 13 years of age as of race day.
Race rules
- Swimmers must wear the race-provided swim cap.
- All WOWSA rules apply including swimsuit definitions. Exceptions and clarifications include:

- Swimsuits: WOWSA Marathon and Channel Rules state swimsuits shall not go beyond the end of the groin or shoulders. The Horsetooth Open Water Swim allows the swimsuit to extend to the knees.
